Wow... September has been a pretty hectic month. I met a few authors, ran a few events at the bookshop where I work, read a handful of books - oh and I launched a blog! So without further ado, here is my September Wrap-Up! (I hope I'm doing this right!)
For a slow reader with a rather hectic schedule this past month, I'm fairly satisfied with my reading progress for September. A couple YA books, a couple Middle Grade, and a few picture books! I'm planning on stepping things up in October so expect to see a lot more books in the "read" section in next month's wrap-up. (I've said it now so I have to do it!)
Reviews are now live for most of the books I've read this month:
Who Let The Gods Out was my children's book group pick and we had a great time discussing the book and decorating terracotta pots in true Ancient Greek fashion! I've already purchased my copy of Simply The Quest and can't wait to read it. A review for WLTGO will be on its way shortly so keep an eye out for that (spoiler: I loved it and it's getting 5 stars. If you've not read it yet, do it - you'll not regret it!)
Ditto for Charlies Changes Into A Chicken - a brilliant book and a review will be live soon. I actually met Sam this week and he's the loveliest guy and his school talks are hilarious. I can't wait to read Book 2.
Books Purchased & ARCs Received
So I kind of went a bit crazy with book buying this month. But in my defence - some of these are reading copies and ARCs I got from publishers. And some of them I had to buy because they were signed (Sunk!, Mythos, Heroes, Pumpkin Heads, Baking With Kim-Joy). So quit with the judging! 😭
One of the best perks of being a bookseller is all the authors you get to meet. This week was a particularly busy one in terms of events! I met Kim-Joy (from The Great British Bake Off), Chris Ryan, Sam Copeland and Stephen Fry!!! 😱They were all incredibly lovely and I even managed to wrangle some signed copies!
Of course, the most important thing that happened in September (for me, at least) was launching LiamReads! I've wanted to be a book blogger for so long and I'm super excited to finally be doing it! I had no idea just how much work goes into blogging and I have a newfound respect for all my Twitter friends who do it. I'm still learning and there's lots of things being tweaked as the site develops but I hope you guys are enjoying the content and find the website easy to use! If you have any feedback at all, I'd love to hear it - and of course, if you want to talk about books you are more than welcome to get in touch! There's nothing I love more than a good book natter.
October is going to be a month of blog-building and I'm going to work hard on gaining subscribers and really getting my blog out there. I'm finding it tricky to get visitors to the site - I think I'm at a bit of a disadvantage not being on WordPress, but never mind! If any of you blogger veterans have any words of advice for a newbie I'd love to hear them! One thing I'm looking to do in October is a subscriber giveaway. I'm still thinking about what books and goodies I'm going to dish out, but it's probably going to be Halloween-themed so stay tuned for more info on that!
I've also got a secret project in the works that I'm very excited about. It ties into the blog to a degree, but I plan to run it as a separate thing. I'm still in the early stages of working things out so I've got nothing major to announce just yet but I promise to update you on any developments. All I can say is, it's going to be a collaborative project and I will be looking for bloggers to get involved...
And last but not least, tomorrow I'm going to be making an appearance on BBC Radio Newcastle! I've kindly been invited along as a guest on The Evening Show and will be on air from 8pm. If you're not doing anything and you'd like to hear more about children's books and what it's like to being a kids bookseller, I'd be over the moon if you tuned in! I'm absolutely terrified and have no idea what to expect but I'm sure it will be great fun.

I think that's about it from me! I can't wait to see what October brings.
How was your September? Have you read any of the books on my lists? And what are you most looking forward to in October? As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments!
